Engagement Story!

A little comic depicting the story of how I got engaged! Yay! It's nothing too fancy, but I'm a visual person, and it's easier to show then tell. But basically we went walking at our local downtown park. (This was also where we went on our first long date, the first two dates were just going out to lunch.) So we went and sat on our usual bench. It's a lovely little place surrounded by trees, a little creek and lots of birds flying around. We were chatting and he was singing some (he sings pretty much all the time) and then he pulled out the ring when he finished the song. I was SO shocked! I just sat and stared for a while and then broke down and starting sobbing (tears of joy, of course.) To give you a little history, I didn't think he even had a ring yet. I didn't think he'd talk to my family yet. Everyone kept acting like he hadn't, and my fiance would tease me about taking money out of my ring fund when he'd buy stuff, and then say things like "I'm just kidding! I'm working on saving money!" Little did I know he'd talked to them family months ago. Ordered the ring many weeks ago, but was just having to wait for it to be delivered. The week before he asked the question he bought a laptop. Well, that almost did me in. I'm normally the pretty calm type, but man, I was livid. He talks about saving money for the ring, and then goes and buys something like a laptop?! Now I see where his priorities are! Oh, I was so upset! Of course, by this time he was just waiting for the mail to deliver the ring. But he still milked my fury for all it was worth. But thankfully for him, the ring arrived Monday and he asked and I said yes :)

I drew the first three images in a sketchbook I started when I was 12. It's filled with drawing of cartoons I watched at the time, Pokemon, Dragon Ball, and Sailor Moon. Shortly after I drew the first image I somehow misplaced the book and it was lost somewhere in the depths of my closet. After two years of collecting dust, I found it again and decided to see if my drawing had improved any. So I re-drew Sailor Moon. Again I laid the book aside for two years, found it again, and repeated the process. After that it went missing for a very long time. It was only in the past year or so that I rediscovered my sketchbook and decided I'd draw Sailor Moon one more time. Though I also decided on some better quality paper.

He's my favorite character from the fabulous Norse mythology based webcomic Thistil Mistil Kistil. It's a great comic, especially for those into mythology. A definite must read!

I was watching the South African National Park webcams the other day when this image came up :

And that's when I realized just how much I like hyenas. Their body structure and coloring simply fascinates me. It made me want one very badly. But since that won't be happening any time soon I drew this to get it out of my system.

Qilin are gentle mythical creatures who bring prosperity and serenity. They originated from China and are often compared to the unicorn. They also happen to be one of my absolute favorite mythical creatures. They have the head of a dragon, horns of a deer, mane and tail of a lion, legs of an ox, and a body covered in fish scales. Really now, how can you beat that? Love these big guys. Wish I had one.
